Privacy policy

Haashiya (the Margin app, for Mac and Windows) is a writing app made by Amit Das. It is designed to keep your writing on your computer.

What we collect

Nothing. There are no servers of ours for this app, and none of your data reaches the developer: no accounts, analytics, tracking, crash reports or advertising identifiers.

Where your data lives

  • Your documents are ordinary files on your computer, saved where you choose.
  • Unsaved drafts, version history and settings (recent files, chosen model, look and sound) are stored locally by the app.
  • Your Anthropic API key is stored in the macOS Keychain (on Windows, in Windows Credential Manager) on your computer.

AI features (optional)

AI alternates, Trim, Checks and ReduceSlop use Anthropic’s Claude API with your own API key. Before the first use, the app asks your permission. When you use a feature, it sends text directly from your computer to Anthropic:

  • AI alternates: the paragraph you’re working on.
  • Trim, Checks and ReduceSlop: the document text, excluding ghosted text and the Overflow panel.

Nothing is sent unless you use one of these features. Anthropic processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy (anthropic.com/legal/privacy). Removing your API key in Settings withdraws the permission.

This website

haashiya.reposhifu.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other companies’ servers: fonts and scripts are served from this site. Downloads come from GitHub, under GitHub’s privacy statement. The live demo runs entirely in your browser; what you type there stays in your browser’s local storage and is not sent anywhere.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
